Recruitment FAQ

Q: Are there any requirements to attend Formal Recruitment?
A: You must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA to be eligible for Recruitment. You’ll have to fill out the Greek Life Interest Card, register and pay the mandatory $15 fee on EventBrite, then fill out the form on ICS Recruiter, our recruitment system, as requirements to participate. If you have any issues with any of those sites, just let us know so we can correct it.

Q: What happens at Recruitment Weekend?
A: Recruitment Weekend is your opportunity to meet the sisters of every organization and find your home! There are multiple rounds, and you’ll stop in each sorority’s rooms and learn who they are, what they stand for, and what they do on campus. Each round has a different purpose and will teach you something new about the organizations! You’ll meet other Potential New Members and get to talk with the Recruitment Guides so that you make the best decision for you.

Q: What are Recruitment Guide?
A: These women are members of our Panhellenic chapters who temporarily disaffiliate from their own sororities in order to remain unbiased and help you make the best decision! Recruitment Guides know the ins and outs of sorority life, so they’ll be a resource for you the entire time, from the first round until Bid Day.

Q: How do I get a bid?
A: During Recruitment Weekend, you’ll be asked to pick your top two chapters. If those chapters like you, too, you’ll visit their room one more time, then attend an interview with them. At the end of the weekend, you’ll know if you’ve received a bid from one or both of those chapters. On Bid Day, you’ll receive your bid(s) and go to your Bid Party with the chapter you choose!

Q: What if I can’t make it to one of the days/rounds?
A: It’s important that you attend each of the rounds in order to get the best Formal Recruitment experience, but we understand that life happens. Please contact Amber Morgan as soon as possible if you are unable to attend a day or round of Recruitment Weekend so we can work with you and find a solution.

Q: I already know which sorority I want to join. Do I really have to go to every round?
A: There are a lot of girls who come to Recruitment Weekend with a sorority in mind, but the purpose of Formal Recruitment is to open your mind and show you every single organization to help you make the right decision for you! You’ll see all five sororities over the course of four days, and eventually, you’ll start narrowing down your list. No matter what, you’ll end up where you belong, so just remember to keep an open mind.

Q: I have no idea which sorority I want to join, but I know I want to go Greek. How can I learn more about the chapters before Recruitment?
A: If you don’t have any clue which sorority is for you, you’ve come to the right place. Check the links above for information on all five of our chapters to do a little research before you join us. At Recruitment Weekend, you’ll meet all the sisters of the organizations, so don’t worry if you feel unprepared or unsure! We’ll help you find your home before the weekend is up.

Q: I’m on a sports team. Can I still join a sorority?
A: Of course! Being an athlete requires a lot of time and effort, but there are members of our Greek community that balance the two every day. Whether your sport has a spring or fall season, we encourage you to participate in Formal Recruitment and find out if it’s for you! (Special note: If you’re a freshman on a spring season sport, you can still come out to Formal Recruitment this spring! If you get a bid, you are welcome to defer it, which means you can still use it in the fall!)
